GeoBasis at Zackenberg research station

The GeoBasis programme in Zackenberg, NE Greenland, is monitoring the physical environment of the area for the 17th year in a row. The obtained data are the backbone for many different research projects in the area. Field assistant Laura Helene Rasmussen is off-loading a temperature logger located at the top of the Aucella mountain. In the background, the mouth of Young Sund is seen in the horizon, between the southern tip of Wollaston Forland and Kap Breusing. The annual supply ship from Royal Arctic Line has just arrived to Daneborg (small dot on the fjord). Busy days and weeks await logisticians and researchers alike, as new instruments have to be installed in the short window of time between the arrival of the ship and the onset of winter.
