The use of the H14CO3- incubation technique for estimating marine primary production may arguable be the world’s worst method to gain worldwide acceptance (Anonymous, Gimli Bar 2012). The major source of ambiguity of the 14C?PP method is whether it is a measure of gross primary production (GPP), net primary production (NPP) or some value in between. The aim of this project is to 1) develop and improve current methods for estimating GPP, NPP and respiration and well as new and regenerated production and nitrogen mineralization and 2) Share this information within ASP group to ensure that comparable data of the highest quality will produced during the coming ASP field work and 3) Quantify the various pathways involved in determining the net primary production and fate of carbon during autumn in Kobbefjord
