Vision and Mission

Vision

Aarhus University ARC is as a leading national and international hub for Arctic research - uniting diverse expertise to address the rapidly evolving challenges of the Arctic. We strive to contribute to the 2032–33 International Polar Year, and strengthen our ability to understand and respond to Arctic change.

Mission

ARC’s mission is to connect and empower all Arctic-focused researchers at Aarhus University through a dynamic and inclusive network that enhances research excellence, informs policy and teaching, and elevates the visibility of AU’s Arctic capabilities.

We pursue this mission through three pillars:

  1. Research – fostering interdisciplinary thematic groups, supporting strategic research development, and enabling high‑impact funding initiatives.

  2. Advisory work, policy and education  – demonstrating  AU’s strong position at the science–policy interface, contributing to national and international Arctic agendas, and integrating students fully into ARC’s activities and opportunities.

  3. Infrastructure & technology – showcasing AU’s unique Arctic infrastructures, field capabilities, and engineering innovations, while positioning ARC as a central hub for Arctic science and logistics.
