New technologies (5)

This work package will focus on new technological developments and implementation that help us connect scientific data needs with operational capability in the Arctic. We aim to automate seasonal and interannual data collection covering atmosphere, ice, land, rivers and ocean compartments and improve spatial and temporal coverage of data on the landscape scale.

We are building the technology of tomorrow involving several interdisciplinary research fields to develop new and better technology for the benefit of researchers and the private sector.

ARC is well positioned to play an international leadership role in this concept of ‘putting scientific excellence to work for society’. Of particular significance is our rich history in developing and operating long-term monitoring programs. In collaboration with end-users such as Royal Greenland, Arctic Marine transportation companies, the Arctic Council and the Arctic Economic Council, the Baffin Fisheries Coalition, space agencies (e.g., CSA, ESA, NASA) we will ensure that practical implementation of science targets, goals and impacts. The engagement with science and technology companies will lead to expanded access to international markets through international collaborations within our network, while demonstrating outcomes of the technology developed.
